BAKCs Wolf Logo Accused Of Being Illegally Trademarked, Yuga Labs To Change Stamp

The legitimacy of the wolf skull logo synonymous with the Bored Apes Kennel Club (BAKC) Yuga Labs NFT line has been questioned. Easy Drawing Guides, a platform that provides simple drawing guides for beginners, is considered the original sketch creator. . The platform claims that Yuga Labs has no legal right to use its intellectual property. Meanwhile, Yuga Labs registered the unlicensed BAKC logo as its own.

Debuting with the relevant logo, BAYC Kennel Club's NFTs were launched in June 2021. On the other hand, in April 2021, Easy Drawing Guides published a wolf skull drawing tutorial. The illustration is very similar to the BAYC logo.

"The intellectual property rights to the image belong to Easy Drawing Guides, as it is our original image and is protected by our terms of service," CoinTelegraph reported in an email interaction with the drawing tutorial platform.

Addressing the controversy, Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano maintains that the matter is being investigated internally at the company.

“We contacted the freelancer we hired for this design and Easy Drawing Guides. We will change the logo and update our website/ask the markets to change as well. This fundraiser has always been about raising money for charity, and I'm proud to say that BAKC has raised over $1 million (approx. 8 crores) for animal welfare organizations. We will be unveiling a new logo soon so we can continue to do good work for the causes we care about,” Solano wrote on Twitter.

Subject to the Easy Drawing Guides Terms of Service, you may grant a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to your work for personal, non-commercial use only.

People are accusing Yuga Labs of just copying Google's design for their NFT kit and now they are infringing copyright.

It is not yet clear whether Yuga Labs will compensate Easy Drawing Guides out of court.

However, this is not the first time Yuga Labs has run into legal trouble recently.

Last July, the NFT brand was accused of manipulating buyers with celebrities and high prices.

Yuga Labs is also under investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for alleged securities violations.
