Apple's flagship iPhone factory in China is operated by partner Foxconn. Foxconn has been a key partner of Apple for many years and plays an important role in the iPhone manufacturing process. Mainstream media are reporting disgruntled employees at Foxconn's main factory responsible for producing the iPhone 14 in China.

According to CNBC, one of the reasons for the protest and unrest is Foxconn's plan to delay bonus payments. Another, perhaps more important, reason is that the workers are against the CCP's COVID rules, which are among the strictest in the world.
Video shared on social media shows workers smashing windows and security cameras. The riots began on Wednesday, when scores of workers expressed their displeasure over "give us our wages" slogans. Some images circulating on social media show men in hazmat suits using batons and tear gas on Foxconn workers. Some workers have broken quarantine barriers, while others are complaining about having to share rooms with others who have tested positive for COVID.
According to reports, a protesting worker at the Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou (the Chinese iPhone factory) is surrounded by security forces.

In response, Foxconn said it had met its payment obligations and that the worker's report of poor living conditions was "not true".
“With respect to incidents of violence, the company will continue to work with employees and the government to prevent such incidents from happening again,” the company added.
