design
Inspired by Star Wars, the Seagate Gaming FireCuda hard drive is pretty standard when it comes to external hard drives . Encased in a black plastic case with hard edges and corners, the disc is 1/2 inch thick, about 3 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches long. - The Seagate logo is embossed in the lower right corner and the FireCuda logo in the upper left corner.
The reader is mounted on a brown plate that creates a small insulated hole on it. This recessed groove houses a tunable RGB LED on the front. Given the design, I expected the LEDs to be on all four sides, but alas, they are only on the front. Finally, on the back of the drive you'll find a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Micro-B port.
However, it differs from other FireCuda external hard drives in its design. Our preview showed the Sith Lord himself strangled, with Darth Vader holding a badge in the background. Mostly black, red colors work well on the default red LED on the front of the player. On the front of the player, above the LED strip, the words DARTH VADER are printed in red to complete the look. The lower part of the disc has the same red color as the lower lip and a slightly raised Galactic Empire emblem in dark burgundy. The photos online don't do it justice and the artwork adds to the look of this Star Wars inspired ride.

If the dark side isn't your thing, you can choose a lighter Han Solo with his weapons drawn and the Millennium Falcon in the background, or a blue-hued Luke Skywalker with an X-Wing fighter. If you already missed it, you can also pick up Mandalorian themed attractions.
Ease of use
Like most external hard drives, the Star Wars-inspired Seagate Gaming FireCuda hard drive is as easy to use as plugging it into a free USB-A port on a Windows or Mac computer or laptop. For best performance, you should use the USB-A 3.1 port with the SS logo. After that, it should appear as its own drive letter, after which you can access it and use it as additional storage.
software
When you connect the Star Wars -themed Seagate Gaming Firecuda hard drive to a USB-A port on a Windows or Mac computer, you can view the contents of the drive. There is a Start_Here_Win.exe folder for Windows and Start_Here_Mac.app for Mac. When you launch the Windows application, a browser window opens where you can register your drive and sign up for Seagate's Rescue Data Recovery service for three years.
Although you can use the drive without it, you can go to the Seagate website and download the Seagate Toolkit for Windows or macOS. This app lets you control things like Backup, Mirror, Sync Plus, Seagate Secure, as well as RGB and status lights. Unlike other Windows apps that have a rectangular or square horizontal window, this one has a phone-like vertical orientation. It is very easy to use.
The top tab shows how much free disk space you have. In our case, a 2 TB disk formatted in the exFAT file system has 1.8 TB of free space. By clicking this tab, you can toggle the status indicator, save to disk, mirror to disk, or access the RGB lighting settings. Back from the main interface, you can access Backup, Restore, Mirror and RGB functions. Backup, restore, and mirroring options are features that are easy to configure.

In the RGB tab, you can set it to Solid, Blink, Breathe, Spectrum or configure three custom configurations using the FireCuda RGB settings. A default rainbow pattern is also available along with Static, Breathe, Blink and Glide options. You can adjust the speed and brightness. Also, you can set the LED backlight to make your screen sleep. Finally, you can enable Razer Synapse 3.x support to sync with your Razer devices. Once enabled, you need to install the Chroma Connect module in Razer Synapse, after which you can sync your FireCuda Gaming HDD with other Razer-compatible devices.
Execution
Performance is key when it comes to gaming. However, being an HDD and not an SSD, we didn't expect much from our typical tests. A small note. be sure to enable the USB SS port to maximize speed.
Read the AS SSD procedure | 129.31 MB/s |
Write the AS SSD series | 123.15 MB/s |
ATTO Disk Benchmark Reads per Second (Maximum) | 129.34 MB/s |
ATTO Disk Benchmark Sec Write (High) | 130.39 MB/s |
CrystalDiskMark 8 Series Reading (Q8T1) | 137.21 MB/s |
CrystalDiskMark 8 Series Write (Q8T1) | 136.68 MB/s |
As you can see, these speeds are very low, even for a hard drive that can read/write 200MB/s. In terms of file transfer, the disk is not so bad. It takes about 20 seconds to transfer a 2GB file from the internal SSD to the external hard drive and vice versa. It's definitely a drive, and you don't want to load any games to run them, as they increase boot times significantly compared to an internal drive, especially if it's an internal SSD or NVMe drive. at this moment.

Judging by the drive's performance, it's fine to keep those extra games you're not currently playing but want to move to your internal SSD or NVMe drive for when you want to play them.
Price:
The Star Wars-inspired Seagate Gaming FireCuda 2TB hard drive retails for $109.99. Considering the prices of external hard drives these days, this is quite expensive. Of course, Seagate's 2TB non -Star Wars removable drive is only $79.99, so you're paying $30 for the Star Wars pictures here. honestly it's beautiful.
It also comes with three years of Seagate Rescue data recovery service, so if you're worried about the data stored on it, that's always a bonus. Sure, they're nice, and they all have a small RGB LED on the front to match the rest of the system, but if you're using it for storage, there are more affordable options.

Illegality
While there are more affordable external hard drives available for storage, the Star Wars-inspired Seagate Gaming Firecuda hard drive offers beautiful Star Wars graphics, RGB lighting, and data recovery services in the event of a drive failure. If you're all about RGB, need more storage for your gaming system, love Star Wars , and have the cash, check this drive out. Not to mention, they make a great gift for the Star Wars fan in your life.
