I'm a big guy, 6'2 and could use a few pounds.
Lots of information? Maybe, but today I'm reviewing a gaming chair designed for taller, stronger people.
The Vertagear PL6800 is a seat that will look right at home in the new Chevrolet Camaro and is designed for people between 6'8 and 400 lbs.
As someone who has worked at a desk all my life, I realized in this review that I have never owned a new office chair.
I have been blessed with very nice jobs, but when I started, there was already a chair behind my desk and I didn't think much of it.
I can't say any of them were terrible, but it didn't cross my mind to ask for a new chair, even at my current job.
I miss him a lot.
The Vertagear 800 line includes four chairs from the largest model I use, the PL6800, to the PL3800, and is designed for people between 5'10 and 220 pounds.
The PL6800 is $549.99, but is on sale for $469.99 at vertagear.com at the time of writing this review. The chair comes in black, but you can choose from six different colors, including white, blue, green, purple and red.
Part of the PL6800's comfort features is ContourMax lumbar support, which Vertagear says "conforms to the shape and movement of your body, keeping your back in a healthy position while you sit or move."
In fact, it will protect the design of the PL6800 from distortion. At the back of the chair, there are four TPE units that can bend and support your spine while you sit. The midsole is covered in memory foam and a soft suede-like material that Vertagear calls HygennX, which "uses patented nanotechnology in coffee grounds to provide natural odor control in a breathable fabric, with a quick-drying silver-coated seam to neutralize bacterial growth: Yes, ground coffee is included in the odor absorbent material.
The VertaAir seat has eight hexagonal air bolsters that let air in and out, adjusting to your body weight, providing support and relieving pressure. The spacious seat has a waterfall design. This means the edge of the seat doesn't dig into the back of your thighs or knees, which helps eliminate leg cramps during long gaming sessions or video conferencing sessions.
The armrests are reliable and adjustable in different directions. It was easy to find a comfortable position for the arms.
The PL6800 is made of a steel frame and has a 10-year warranty. The chair rests on a 5-star aluminum alloy base and is supported by a grade 4 industrial gas lift that allows for easy height adjustment. The parts of the chair that do not come into contact with the body are covered with very durable faux leather.
The castors are covered in polyurethane and roll well on the short carpet in my office.
assembly
The PL6800 comes in a rather large box and you will need to install it.
The armrests of the chair are already attached to the lower part of the seat. You will need to flip it over and place the seat mechanism on the bottom of the seat. All screws use the included hex tool.
The wheels are attached to the base, which is then placed on the gas lift.
Once the wheels and gas lift are attached to the seat base, carefully flip it over and attach the back to the seat base with four screws.
Climbing from behind was the hardest part for me. You can ask a friend for help, because help is important.
There are two screws on each side that need to go through the metal bracket that protrudes from under the seat. There are holes in the sides of the warp and you can't see the wires, so you try to connect the wires by walking around. This can be difficult if you are trying to squeeze your back at the same time.
This is the part that took me the longest. You should start with four screws, but don't tighten until all four screws are in place.
settings
There are two levers for height and tilt, which are easy to operate and easy to find in the right sitting position. Adjusting the angle of the backrest allows you to lie down without fear of tipping over.
comfort
Overall, the Vertagear PL6800 is a very comfortable chair. Most regular chairs are not wide enough. The PL6800 provides a wide cradle that supports my shoulders and spine.
If you sit a lot and are big/tall, don't accept the chairs you inherited from the previous person at the table.
There are comfortable chairs for you and the Vertagear PL6800 will make your back happy.
