Hogwarts Legacy takes you into the world of Harry Potter. You will discover a vast world full of magic and wonders that you only see in movies and read about in books. However, you wonder if it can work well on your device. Here's a PC performance and technical overview of Hogwarts Legacy , sharing our findings on graphics settings, DLSS, frame rate (fps), and ray tracing.
Note: See the Hogwarts Legacy Guides and Features Hub for more information. Also note that Nvidia has yet to release an updated driver as of this writing. Performance may change or improve as additional Hogwarts Legacy support becomes available.
Before we get into the meat and potatoes of our Hogwarts Legacy PC performance and technical review, let's discuss the system requirements. You can find it on the game's official website.

Hogwarts Legacy graphics settings and settings
You can see more pictures of Hogwarts Legacy graphics settings below. Display options include screen resolution, zoom type (eg DLSS, FSR), v-sync, unlimited frame rate, motion blur, and more. includes.
Meanwhile, the graphics options panel has the usual presets: Low, Medium, High, and Ultra. There are various avatar attributes/materials that can be changed (eg effects, foliage, material, surrounding population/NPCs, etc.). It also has ray tracing settings which we will talk about later.
Another thing to note is the Run Benchmark button. You're not actually watching a game scene. Instead, it calculates and optimizes settings based on your hardware.
Hogwarts Legacy PC and graphics performance comparison with DLSS
My goal was to play at Ultra quality settings at 2160p/4K 60fps. However, selecting the Run Benchmark button gave us the ultra settings while disabling the ray tracing options. In any case, I decided to check a few parameters.
- It is very preset with all ray tracing options enabled.
- Motion blur, depth of field, and sync are disabled by default. Circle rates were unlimited.
- Made changes to Nvidia DLSS - disabled, quality and performance.
- The pictures below are from the Gryffindor common room.
Here are the results.
- Hogwarts Legacy on PC really struggled with DLSS - Off (25 to 35 FPS).
- Things were more manageable with DLSS - Quality (55 - 65 fps).
- And of course DLSS - excellent performance (65-80 fps).
- Significant drops were in open areas and closed areas with many NPCs. Fortunately, I haven't encountered any issues while playing the game so far.

Oddities of Shadows and Rays
I've noticed some weird quirks with Hogwarts Legacy and ray tracing. The following photos were taken at one location, dose classification.
- Daytime tracking on/off - barely noticeable differences.
- Enable/disable ray tracing with Lumos. If this Lumos is enabled, ray tracing creates shadow blocks for some reason. It didn't matter if the object was a shelf, a pillar, or a pile of dishes, it was possible to see an irregular shadow.
One last thing about the HUD screen
Finally, we should note that Hogwarts Legacy does not have a photo mode. You can't pause the game to take a dynamic screenshot, and there's no quick and easy button to remove all HUD elements. Instead, if you want to remove the clutter, you need to go into UI options to deselect all HUD elements.
